Former Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden is continuing to support the military and veterans by joining JPMorgan Chase's Military and Veterans Affairs External Advisory Council.

Through her work in the White House with the Joining Forces initiative, Biden has encouraged the American public to support military families through employment, wellness, and education resources.

"As a military mom, I know how important the transition to civilian life can be for the entire family. JPMorgan Chase has gone to its strengths to offer innovative support of our transitioning service members; I am honored to join them," Biden said in a statement.

The council was started in 2011. Retired Army generals Ray Odierno and Stanley McChrystal are also members.

"We're incredibly honored to have Dr. Biden join our ranks and help guide our efforts in serving military members and veterans as they transition into civilian life," said JPMorgan Chase Chief Operating Officer Matt Zames. "Dr. Biden's commitment to our veterans is palpable and the experience and foresights she'll bring to the Advisory Council will be an invaluable addition that will no doubt positively impact the lives of many."
